Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Hamad and Shaikh Mohammed, the sons of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Hamad and Mohammed bin Nasser 5-Aside Football Championship 2017 that was organized by the High Organizing Committee of Nasser 10 in collaboration with Footballization has ended with Crystal Palace crowned as Champions.
Present at the final match was General Secretary of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Mr. Abdulrahman Askar, Vice Chairman of the Bahrain Football Association for Technical Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Salman Al Khalifa and the Director of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mr. Tawfiq Al Salehi, Vice Chairman of the High Organizing Committee Mr. Hasan Ismael, Director of Nasser 10 Championship Mr. Ali Al Majed and Bahrain Football Association Board Member Yasser Al Rumaithi.
The final day of the Championship witnessed the semi final and final matches which saw Crystal Palace play against Salcete United Sports, after defeating Marsa Al Dor and Wolves in the previous rounds.
Crystal Palace was successful in defeating Salcete United with a large margin as the match ended 8-1. The first half of the match ended with a 4-1 lead; Crystal Palace goals were scored by Ahmed Ebrahim (2 goals), Khalid Sayyar (2 goals) and Muath Mauali (2 goals),Mohamed Abdulla (1 goal), owned goal by Clinton while the only goal scored by Salcete United was by Reagan. The match also witnessed a red card that was received by Alvino for receiving two consecutive yellow cards during the match.
Crystal Palace dominated the match since the start, with star player Ahmed Ebrahim and Khalid Sayyar and Mohamed Abdulla and goalkeeper Humood Al Khashram behind. Salcete United Sports players faced a challenge and was unable to stop the Crystal Palace players, the team was unable to score and cope with the talent presented by Crystal Palace, especially with strong substitutes such as Muath Al Muali.
Easy Win and An Exciting One
The first match of the semi final witnessed Crystal Palace defeating Marsa Al Dor, with a wide margin of 5-0, in which Crystal Palace dominated the match and scored the first goal within the first minute. Marsa Al Dor attempted to retaliate, which opened up the playing field, an exploit that was used by Crystal Palace to score more and win the match.
In the second semi final match, Salcete United succeeded in turning around the 1-0 half time score against Wolves, which was scored by Zero, into a 2-1 win that were scored by Reagan.
The third and fourth place match was played by Marsa Al Dor and Wolves; a match that ended with a 5-2 win for Marsa Al Dor.
Wolves are Best Team, Yaqoub Top Striker, Ebrahim and Al Khashram the Best
the organizing committee of the HMN 5-Aside Football Championship 2017 determined the winners of the Championship’s individual and team accolades, Wolves received the Best Team Award, Mustafa Yaqoub (Al Wehda) received the Top Goalscorer Award, Ahmed Ebrahim (Crystal Palace) received the Best Player Award and his colleague Humood Al Khashram received the Best Goal Keeper Award.
Salcete United Coach Jeffery D. Costa expressed his happiness about winning second place in the championship, pointing out that even though his objective was winning the Championship, he is content with his team’s performance during the tournament. He added that it was a great football tournament in all aspects such as its organization, media coverage and player caliber. He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the organizing committee and its efforts towards ensuring the success of such a football tournament, which took place in Bahrain for the first time in such size and manner.
Crystal Palace Coach Faisal Al Khashram said, “First, I would like to thank Almighty Allah for winning the Championship title, which is the result of the team’s exceptional performance during matches that allowed us to gain the title deservingly.” Faisal continued, “We would like to thank HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Essa Al Khalifa for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, for directing to include this tournament under the Nasser 10 Championships, which signifies his continuous support to Bahraini youth and sports, especially football, the most popular sport in the Kingdom of Bahrain.” Faisal continued, “Such football championship was held for the first time in terms of size and game type [five a side], which has allowed a large number of youth to participate to demonstrate their skill and football talent.” Faisal thanked the High Organizing Committee of Nasser 10 and Footballization for organizing such unique event.
Marsa Al Dor player Ahmed Jassim commented, “The Championship succeeded in achieving its objectives in its first version, which is demonstrated by the exceptional organization of the tournament, the performance that was displayed by participating teams and the extensive media coverage that it received in local newspapers and the Bahrain Sports Channel. I hope this Championship continues to take place as it supports the involvement of Bahraini youth in football and allows the engagement in football tournaments that are of a strong nature that enhances their football performance and skills.” Jassim commented on his team’s good performance which led them to successfully achieve third place in the Championship.
